What is a PPR Pipe Plug?
PPR pipe plugs, commonly known in the industry as pipe caps or end caps, are accessories specifically designed to seal PPR pipe ends. They function like a "hat" for water pipes, preventing debris from entering and temporarily cutting off water flow during maintenance. Common materials include PPR-based plugs and metal plugs. The former are connected via heat fusion, while the latter are fixed with threads.
Three Practical Types of Plugs
* Heat Fusion Pipe Caps: Made of the same material as the PPR pipe, they provide a permanent seal using a heat fusion machine, suitable for applications where disassembly is not required for extended periods.
* Threaded Plugs: Embedded with metal threads, they can be repeatedly installed and removed for convenient temporary maintenance.
* Quick-Installation Plugs: Equipped with a rubber sealing ring, they can be quickly installed without tools, suitable for emergency use.
Purchase and Usage Tips
* When selecting plugs, pay attention to pipe diameter matching (commonly 20/25/32mm). Heat fusion plugs require professional tools for installation. For temporary leak sealing, use rubber caps and pipe clamps for fixation. Metal threaded ends should be wrapped with Teflon tape to prevent leaks. Special reminder: Before construction in winter, drain the water from the pipes to prevent them from freezing and cracking.
