Slipping your hand, scratching the threads, misaligning the joint, leaking during pressure testing-these aren't due to poor skill, but rather a failure to master the "rhythm of force" when tightening PPR pipe fittings.
PPR threaded elbows, tees, and straight fittings require a three-stage tightening technique: first, turn clockwise 2-3 turns to confirm thread engagement; then, use pipe wrenches to gently clamp the hexagonal part, applying force evenly until a noticeable increase in weight (about half a turn); finally, pause for 2 seconds to allow the plastic to conform and naturally lock in place. This process is smoother at temperatures above 15°C; at colder temperatures, PPR becomes slightly brittle and easily breaks with excessive force. This gentle rhythm can prevent 80% of rework.
